SATA drive not detected

Can someone help me out with the installation of a serial ata drive?

I basically just pluged it in but when I try to install XP it is not showing up.

You're probably going to need the drivers for it. When you first start the Windows XP install process, at the bottom of the screen it will say something like "Press F6 to install RAID drivers." At that time, hit F6 and put your disk in. Everything should be good from there.

make sure SATA is enabled in your BIOS options as well. I can't add anything more than what glytch said.

backing up a step and asking the foolishest question, Did you plug in both cables, or just the data? SATA disks have a new power connector...you may need a cable adapter.

Yeah, i had this same problem with a Seagate drive and my MSI board. Didn't come with a floppy, just the cd with drivers for when your in windows. So it got recognized when i booted into windows from another drive, but wouldn't install windows to it. If you dont have a floppy, you might hafta copy the raid drivers over from the CD.
