Do those CDs that claim to clean your drive actually work? If so, how?

have a look at the cd itself. if it's anything like the one i have, it has a line of bristles on the play side... those bristles sweep over the lens and brush any dust off.

CD rom are cheep enough to just replace for the most part. if it has goten dirty and is not working it is under warrenty or it is old enough to replace.

I've never had a CD cleaner help me when my drive was failing. Once a lens starts going out of alignment, it's time to replace the drive. This can happen yearly if it is under heavy use (or is a cheap brand).
