First time building a PC....

Been a while but I remember TFP members being very helpful people so here goes. I am building a PC to last me through univeristy, I'm a gamer so I'm looking for great specs but affordable as well. Here is the build I have thought about:

Case: Enermax Medium Tower
Processor: AMD 64 3000+ www.newegg.com offers a free farcry game with it
RAM: 512mbx2 OCZ 3200ppm
Motherboard: ASUS K8V Deluxe SE
HD: 7200rpm 8mb cache hard drive(s)
Video Card:HIS Excalibur Ice Q 9800 Pro
Drive: NEC CD-RW/DVD-ROM
Keyboard: Logitech Black
Mouse: Logitech Black
Speakers: Creative Imagine 5.1 Speakers
Fans: x3 80mm fans
Floppy: Sony Black

Any opinions on what I should add/replace, if a 350W power supply will be enough, where is the best place to get computer hardware etc etc....

Thanks

It all sounds good. I'd would go for a 450w power supply. Enermax is a good brand and I forget what else is recommened.

I've always used Lite-On optical drives. Inexpensive and reliable.

As far as processor and mobo that's a good choice. You have SATA support which you can use later if not now. If you can afford it now go for it!

Looks good, but I suggest going with the 3200+. It has 512 KB more onboard L2 cache which will boost gaming performance a good bit for the price.

That videocard is good, but I'd check out NewEgg's Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro. Super cheap and by Sapphire -- second to ATI as the most reputable ATI videocard manufacturer.

Logitech cordless MX duo. Its been dropping in price, and has the mouse, keyboard and charger. The mouse is a dream, and having cordless things is really nice. When I built my computer with my friend, I ordered everything off of newegg. And yeah, i'd go for the bigger power supply.

I'd keep the videocard. Laserth is right in that Sapphire is good 'n cheap (I have it myself)... BUT the HIS version has a pre-installed Arctic VGA Silencer (which I also have on my card!).

Advantages:
- silent. The sapphire card is loud, the VGA silencer is inaudible at low speeds (where it cools about the same as the stock cooler), and is near-quiet at high speeds (where it cools like a madman)
- cools well
- looks friggin' cool
- you won't void your warranty by installing the VGA silencer on your Sapphire card (like I did). No big deal if you know what you're doing, but a *very* big deal if something goes wrong in, say, 2 years.

---------------------

Oh, and go for a DVD-burner. the price difference between that and a combo-drive is getting lower and lower. a DVD burner is a combo drive with added DVD-buring options, after all.
