Hey guys, as some of you might know from the general section, i'm redoing my desk and i need to get some wrappings / sheaths to hold bundle my wires together, now my work had some of these things that you slide the wires through and look like... mesh finger traps.... like the small chinese finger traps but really long, anyone know of where to get something like this or something similiar? thanks muchos for info.

I personally use either velcro or zip ties to bundle wires together. Velcro ties are the nicest because it's always easy to add new wires later if the need arises.

I have worked with these before, but I don't know where my company gets the stuff. My boss calls it "Snake Skin", I think that is a brand name but i'm not sure.

Menards / Home Depot usually has it. The trick is getting the goobers that work there to understand what it is that you want so they can show it to you

You might want to go to home depot, and get some plastic tubing, then cut it up to about 1" lenghts, then cut it lenghwise along the tube, so you can open the tube up, and put the cables in toghether. It's a pretty cheap and easy way to keep cables herded together..

I use velcro strips for cords that get wound up (power bricks etc) and have some things neatened up with some cablewrap...

Don't ever use rubber bands because they're quite ephemeral. Zip-ties are nice until you need to undo them.

Radio Shack has plastic cablewrap...iirc it's $9 for about 10 feet of 3/4" or 6 feet of 1.5"...the stuff looks like the joint of a big ol' bendy straw.

Velcro is wonderful stuff. Don't buy the pre-cut lengths of it, go to Michaels/AC Moore/Jo-Ann/etc and get it bulk...

just because i'm a cheap bastard, i like to use the twisty-ties like the ones you get when you buy a box of plastic garbage sacks or sandwich bags. those have always met my cable-management needs well.

You can also go down to a car shop store like AutoZone and ask the clerk for tubing. Its a lot cheaper than the so called "computer sleevings," they are the same thing - IF they are plastic. Some sleevings actually reduce magnetic frequincy(sp) for better performance.
