Powerbook vs iBook

Hey

I am currently looking to get an Apple desktop for college. I have been looking to get the 15 inch powerbook with the superdrive. Right now I am in a predicament as to what powerbook to get, or if it would be better for me to get an iBook. I will use this computer for word processing, video editing, photo management, and web site design. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have a 12 inch powerbook, and I love it. I got the small size because its easier to fit in my backpack and take it to classes. If you have an additional monitor you can plug it in when you are at home and extend the desktop across 2 screens, which I thought was super cool.

PS- I got the extended "applecare protection plan" because there have been some problems w/ powerbooks, and everyone seemed to think it was a good idea to get extra protection.

I would go with the 12" powerbook personally. The main thing holding me back from buying one is lack of funds, but they looked like the best balance of price/power/features when I was comparing just for kicks.

I just purchased the 15 inch powerbook with superdrive and it is quite possibly the greatest thing ever. I was looking into the 12 inch as well, however, i decided on the 15 inch in the end because i didn't think the 12 inch screen was large enough on its own and did not want to have to deal with an additional monitor. If you have the money to spend then i would definitely say go with the 15 inch, as it is not much heavier than the 12 inch and also can be upgraded to a 1.5 ghz processor and 128 mb of video ram.

I got the 1.5 processor but i have heard that there really isnt much of a difference in overall performance between the two. This was only from a friend though, so it may not be an accurate statement.

Go for the back-lit keyboard. May not seem like much, but try using it for a while. You'll wonder how you ever did without.

PowerBook, 15". You won't regret it. It does everything you could want it to do.
