[Web] FTP client for web development...

I'm looking for an FTP client I can use to keep my local development site and the 'live site' on the remote (usually shared) server in sync easily, for each site I develop. Just uploading files I've changed isn't enough, because other people may be editing the files as well--it has to go both ways.

I'm thinking something similar to Dreamweaver or Eclipse's 'synchronize' function. But I use SciTE (Scintilla) for all my PHP/HTML/CSS editing, so it seems like overkill to install one of those just for FTP functionality.

I use Win XP, by the way. I'd prefer something open source, but it's not critical.

Thanks, cheers.

Well, it appears that WS FTP has a syncronize feature, and I found a guide at http://www.ftpplanet.com/tutorial/synch/

Another option, especially given that you have more than one person playing with the files would be to use cvs, subversion or a similar version control system. That would depend on the platform that the server runs, and weather or not you're able to install software.

I also just stumbled upon FTPvc, which is available in demo form at http://www.download.com/3000-2160-10059540.html

Hope that helps.

That helps a lot, thanks. I used to use WS back in the day, it didn't have sync features back then. FTPvc looks really nice. The reason I can't use CVS or SV or anything is because most of the sites I develop are for small business and are hosted on shared servers, so all I have is FTP access.

Thanks again.
