XP computer driving me crazy

Here's the problem, I have two computers, one running 2003 and the other running XP. I'm trying to share files from my XP computer to 2003 computer. Whenever I copy files from XP computer to 2003 computer, I get an error saying "The specified network name is no longer available".

The last time I encountered this problem, I couldn't find any help on what I needed to do:

I tried disabling the firewall, I tried creating a new rule for my lan as a trusted zone. I even uninstalled my firewall. Finally I decided to give up. And as of recent after what I thought was a virus scare, and it turned out being a failing power supply, I reinstalled XP. The problem was gone, until now, it seems to have surfaced again. This is the only machine that does that, and all other XP computers have never done this.

What can I do. When I try to copy files, even a small file it takes 6min, when I try to copy 60mb it takes 30min, and then doesn't copy anything because of the error.

I also made sure that my NIC doesn't fall asleep, what else can I do.

Setup: Wireless Router-->Configuration-->DHCP, Mac Filtering, G-devices only-->WEP
Network Type: Workgroup
Windows 2003 wireless
Windows XP hardwired

I had a random problem once where I had 2 wireless cards (pc and laptop) too close together. Not sure why, but one connection would always go, then come back, then go etc...

Moved the laptop 5 feet to the right and they both work perfectly now.

which version of XP? Home or Pro? If it's home, that's your problem right there. Home sucks hardcore. I have yet to get it to play nice with networks. Pro is much easier to config.

I'd check the wired connection to make sure that the duplex settings are done correctly. If the router wants to run at full-duplex and the XP machine is only running at half-duplex, it can create that kind of situation. I've had file copies of 10MB take over an hour, through a 100MBit link, because of duplex issues.

I just replaced the nic, and reconfigured my network connections, and now it seems to work. 2 sec. for 60mb. :woot:
