Can't go wrong with Sony. Just purchased a 51" HDTV Projection tv. Sony has components in their tvs that even make non-hd programming look better than normal. Look for open-box models too, you still get the full warranty and we saved $400 bucks.

Everyone has things that claim to make non HD programming look better than normal. Trouble is, they often do more harm than good. The ONLY TV I have ever seen with such technology that actually delivers is the Zenith C32V36. It has Faroudja's DCDi chip in it. Faroudja makes some of the best external video processors and scalers, and Zenith gives you a scaled down version in the aforementioned TV. You can probably find that TV in the neighborhood of $899.
