Looks like Hotmail finally stepped up to the plate....
Looks like Hotmail finally stepped up to the plate with more storage space -- I just logged in and found I now have 250MB, more than Yahoo but still not nearly as cool as Gmail. Check it out, in any case!

Are you quite sure? I just logged in right now, and its still telling me I only have 2MB. But then I only use hotmail for MSN chatting, so it doesn't really matter... hotmail would still suck, even with 250MB.

I just made an account to check it out. I only got 2 megs. Thats no stepping up to the plate as i see it. I'll stick to my email from my ISP and my 5 gmail accounts.

Actually hotmail still sucks as a mail service, but I've had my account for years (it's my last name only) and I've been sick of having to constantly log in and clean out my junk mail since it's just under the 2mb limit.
And yeah gmail rocks, I love it. I'm trying to move to it as my primary webmail acct. I think their marketing and business plan is great -- the invite-only thing adds to the desire of people to be in the "in crowd", and the 1GB storage is bad ass. It's great how Google has forced all the other webmail portals to up the ante a little ![]() |

Yeah, it's cool and all, but you can get 1GB for free and NO invites with walla.com *shrug*

wow. Spymac looks REALLY cool. Not only does it ave 1GB of e-mail, but it has POP3 access as well
Neither GMail or Walla can say that. AAAND, it has 100MB of web space as well as some other cool features (especially if you're a mac user). Thanks - I finally know what e-mail service I'll be using once I graduate and lose my school e-mail.EDIT: However, there is something disturbing in their license agreement.... Quote:

I haven't had any problems with spymac so far, at least that weren't temporary. For a while some of the messages would show up in inbox but nothing would show up in the box when I went to view them. Might have been a browser or virus problem.

Using Spymac as of now. Hopefully I can find a way to incorporate this and my ISP as my
two main E-Mails, everything else goto my Yahoo and Hotmail accounts.

even if hotmail gave a gig, I wouldn't use it. The day I signed up my account, I started getting pr0n spam. I didn't put the email addy out there anywhere, and I'm getting horse fucker emails. fuck that. I stick with yahoo/gmail/email w/my website. I would never allow my kids to sign up for a hotmail acct, just because of the spam that immediatley floods the inbox.

I don't recieve any 'horsefucker' spam, at least not anymore. Not even in my junk mail. The worst i get is ---_C_i_a_l_i_s_--- mail. And refinancing my mortgage. I don't have a mortgage. As far as I understand it, hotmail does not admit to scanning or archiving mail that goes through the servers. There are no targeted marketing campaigns that have been exposed, although you could ask the boys and girls in Paranoia. I signed up with a secondary hotmail acct that has since expired, but I never told anyone the address. I used it to sign up for the Cook's Illustrated website. It remained spam free for over a year.

Nope, it's true. I got 250 awhile back without asking for it and I most definitly did not pay for it. I could care less really since I hardly use the address anymore, I just keep it for a few odds and ends.

For those of you that have received the storage upgrade, how long have you had your accounts? I have had mine since January '02 and still no upgrade. Also what web browser and operating system do you use to access your Hotmail account? If Yahoo could upgrade all their accounts at once I don't see why Hotmail can't do the same. Both of my Netscape accounts have been upgraded to 250 megabytes.

I've had mine since '02 and still no update for me. Maybe everyone else is special.
But then again i never have had one piece of spam on it. Which i'm sure is not normal, so maybe i am special after all. hehe
