My NEW Computer!!! WOO!

okay so I dont have it just yet but this is what its going to be. I am also purchasing it used so it is going to cost me about $850 dollars Canadian for this part, I will still need a monitor, 160 gig HD, and maybe more ram.

It has an nForce2 motherboard, 512MB DDR Ram,AMD 2600 processor, Radeon 9700 Pro video card, 52X CD burner, 52x CDR, 80GB hard drive, 4 speakers plus a sub, and an Antec silent case. It has the balance of warranty on the components, 2 - 3 years depending on the part.

Tell me what you guys think of that

not too bad at all, I would put some more RAM in as Wyodiver said, but other than that you are lookin' pretty good for today's games and applications.

If you don't use it for gaming then it's pretty good. It will not run that smoothly if you want to use it to play newer(est) games.

Yeah it will. If he gets more RAM then it'll actually play the newest games VERY well at medium settings.

I was actually going to be buying a new computer and skip the whole graphics card because I was going to use the computer for home recording (I'm a guitarist).

But when this deal came up and I noticed it has this pimpin' graphics card in it I figured "ah heck a couple games cant hurt me". So I plan on finaly being able to play C&C Generals (I wasted 70 bucks on this when it was new and my computer cant even run it! Arrrg!) and hopefully this will be able to play Doom 3 cause I shall have to pick that up as well

Here's an idea for people running the same general computer. I have lost almost ALL hope in ATI and their drivers. I'm running Windows 2000, Radeon 9500 pro, 512 ram, AMD Athlon XP 2200 etc etc etc.........yeah the computers about a year and a half old now.

But that's not the point, my point is that when I first pieced this thing together, winamp would crash my machine. For the longest time I could not figure out what was going on. Games wouldn't run, apps would crash, and the system would randomly reboot itself. I couldn't even use IE. Then I discovered the Omega Drivers. Since installing the Omega drivers for my Radeon, things have settled down, not perfect yet, but we're getting there.

http://www.omegadrivers.net/

They're free, and all the guy who writes them asks is if you have a couple extra dollars hanging around, donate, or at least click on his sponsors.

I've had alot more luck running his drivers than anything ATI has put out in the last year and a half. Who knows Triplebla, maybe you'll be able to run C&C Generals.....

Well I got the computer now, and its all hooked up, I wont be installing any games on it for about another week and when I do install them I shall let you guys know how it runs.

And it turns out I have the radeon 9600 not the 9700. But this one should still be decent. The computer I got also wont be online for about 2 more weeks yet, I am still using my old virus ridden computer to post here.
