What OS?

What burning software do you use for CD's & DVD's? Did it used to launch when you inserted a blank?

Does the system recognize non-blank CD's?

What brand/model is the burner? Do you also have a CD-RW in the system? Need more info in order to help you.

Usually, WinXP picks up on a blank CD when it is inserted. Neither Nero nor Alcohol 120% recognize the blank CDs (but does see blank DVDs)[/quote]

Actually, I never checked this. It seems to read neither burned CDs nor pressed CDs. Burned and pressed DVDs appear to read fine.

It is a Lite-On LDW-851S DVDRW. The other optical drive I have is a regular 16x DVD-ROM drive. It's not like this drive never worked, either. It just started acting like this out of nowhere.
