MSN Messenger OSX alternatives

I've been trying to use MSN messenger on my Mac for a while now, and I'm fed up with it. I can't seem to send and recieve files from certain users. I can send files to some people on Win XP, but not others. I tried using aMSN, but it opens conversations randomly on startup, and I hate having to close 10 windows before I can talk to the people I want to talk to. Does anyone know a good Mac program that can connect to the MSN Messenger network?

I second adium, it supports all 4 major protocols (ICQ, AIM, Yahoo, and MSN) and is FREE...

Not using OSX I cannot help you directly but... Something you may want to try is Wine. It allows you to run Windows programs on other OSes. Since OSX is unix based, you should be able to get it compiled on there and then I saw while looking around google, that people have gotten MSN Messenger running on it.
