ipod problem

My computer does not show my ipod as a drive. I took it to my freinds house who has xp and configured it, but my comp doesn't display it as a drive. It has it listd in the hardware manager, but it isnt listed as a drive. I have windows me. My ipod is the 4 gig mini

Do you have iTunes installed? You must have iTunes installed in order to put music on it.

P.S. I highly recommend you upgrade to XP; WindowsMe is a piece of shit.

yea you need itunes.. and get win2k pro or xp .. winME is terrible... its that redneck step cousin you just wanna smack around for lookin at your sister!.. yea dont ask.. lol

Did you actually set it to be usable as an external drive? There's a specific setting in iTunes to configure your iPod to show up as a hard drive. (Note that the directories in which the music is stored will not show up in your file system, only the data storage areas will.)
