wireless problem

I have a dell 700m.

My wireless has been fine...my wife has a wireless router, and I set up an encrypted network, and have been ok for months. All of a sudden, while it still says I am connected, and that the signal strength is excellent, I cannot surf the net, or e-mail. It's as if I am not connected.

I tried renewing and releasing my IP, and heres what it says:
Ethernet adapter DANNY:
Media State........Media Disconnected

But it lists my IP and domain fine...so what does media disconnected mean ? There are no wires, so does that mean theres an internal problem ?

Thanks.

How's you wife's connection? If she connects okay, then it's a problem with your device. I'd reboot first and see if that solves it. If not, your drivers might have been corrupted (in which case, you should reinstall them either from the software that came with the computer, or by connecting to the net via ethernet and downloading a driver update). It's also possible that your wireless hardware broke somehow.

If no wireless devices connect correctly, it's probably a problem at the router or broadband adapter, and likely rebooting both of them will solve it.

I have that problem sometimes when one of the computers -forgets- the network password. It is still connected but cant pass data. Go back in and re-enter your passwords.
