Treo 650. Cingular -vs- Verizon - Tilted Forum Project - TFP - Sexuality, Philosophy and Political Discussion

Alright guys/gals - In the market for a new smartphone. I have narrowed it down to these 2 providers. One (Verizon) is giving me a great deal on the phone. Cons= Not compatible with their EDVO network. Cingular will not budge on their price even with a 2yr plan/unlimited data.... I mean c'mon is the EDGE network your only selling point?? Not sure if that data network is worth 200 extra dollars to dump to Cingular or not. Any EDGE/Treo users with experience out there?

I have my 650 with Sprint, and I like it. It's no EDGE, but it works.

That's ok, at least it is something..... Sprint sucks in our area, so I have not really considered them.... Although, very cheap data plans! Unlimited for 15 bucks

Yep! And add a few bucks to purchase TreoNet, and you've got yourself a decent wireless modem solution. Not as fast as cable, but way faster than dialup.

I hear ya. It really pisses me off that Palm purposely disables WiFi on these devices. Sure, I can download a beta rom and hack it up but man, I am not sure I want to go through the trouble. The WiFi sleds look horrible.... Urggh... I can't wait for the 700w either.... Oh well, think I am going with Verizon on this one I guess....
