Stoeger Double Defense

Why?

...

Issues:

- Tacticool look defeats purpose of a low profile "That's just my innocent bird gun, Officer" side-by-side as a suitcase companion gun.
- Single trigger defeats utility of dual barrels with different loads. The cowboy model has two triggers... what does this one not?
- Optics on something that has TWO shots, a cylinder bore, and a 20" tube? That's retarded.
- Flashlight? Okay... but that rail is a little overkill.
- No external hammers.
- The flashlight and optic cost more than the gun.

I like the finish and stock, though. Doesn't get ugly from being dinged up like the blue-and-walnut model.

...

Thoughts?

We ceased to be a stocking Stoeger dealer several years ago, and here's why.

They shipped a large number of their SxS and O/U shotguns with a function defect which prevented the Right/Upper barrel from firing. It simply didn't work. Stoeger admitted, through their parent-company representative at Benelli, that they were aware of this issue and shipped the guns anyway. They then refused to replace or repair the defective units or refund our (or our customer's) money. You wanna see pissed-off FFLs? Stop by Stoeger's table at the SHOT Show.

Read that again: they shipped (and refused to replace or repair) what they knew to be defective merchandise, and then told every FFL and consumer who bought one (or twenty) of these defective weapons to go fuck ourselves.

The mechanical issue may have been fixed, but I personally (and my company) will never, EVER do business with Stoeger or Benelli ever again. YMMV.

Okay, so the company is run by a bunch of dickheads who don't care about their reputation.

Interesting. Good to know.

I'm not a genius... but what does that have to do with the idea of a tacticool SxS?

I mean, I own a plain Jane Stoeger SxS and I've never had any problems, myself.

It's a great gun to take down and stuff in a backpack for road trips / hotels.

It's useful because it has no frills. The idea of a rail system / optics on a SxS is goofy.

Sling swivels would be far more useful than an optics rail. I find myself asking, "Why?"

Maybe there is a niche market with the cowboy action shooters?

FWIW, It might make a cool little platform for a M203. I always hated running those suckers on my M4. I still think they should bring back the M79.

They should field the 3-shot harmonica M79. That would be really useful in today's conflict.

Wow, Dunedan, that is a helluva story, in today's competitive market, I am amazed that they would pull that crap. to the OP I just don't see the point. The light is OK, but the optics are silly. Probably nothing here you couldn't get better from Mossberg. If it's really for home defense, just give in and put a pistol grip, foreend grip and all the other tacticool stuff (lasers, bayonets, muzzle brakes)
